Agritechnica 2019 Review15/11/2019
Celebrating 30 years of business with Westermann.
450,000 visitors, 2,800 exhibitors… Agritechnica is the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural & landscaping machinery. What better way for Westermann to celebrate their 30-year anniversary than with their largest ever booth and record number of visitors.
SPA Power Machinery are a much more recent addition to their group, but have been welcomed into the family Westermann with open arms.
Laurie and Simon Anthony visited the show to join in the celebrations.
“Once every two years Hannover becomes the centre of the universe for all things agriculture. It’s a phenomenal event, with all corners of the industry coming together. Some are looking for new machines to buy, others to sell, and some are just having a good old-fashioned farmers holiday.
And the exhibitors, boy do they pull out all the stops! The displays on each booth are magnificent; tyres and bonnets polished until you can see your face in them, huge LCD screens displaying the latest technology, and all their latest machinery releases.
And the Westermann stand was no different; they had every machine in the range on display with all available attachments. Then overhead on a huge screen was their recent video displaying the difference between old-fashioned Axial Sweepers, and super-efficient Radial Sweepers.
We spent the first part of the day talking with other Westermann dealers who had visited from across Europe, this was a great way to share knowledge of products, customers, and marketing.
We then took a tour of a couple of Halls looking at all the innovations on display. "Husqvarna" showed some incredible courage by showing only battery powered models…what a sign of the times. And in a fantastic way to engage the young farmers "Farming Simulator" had head to head battles on stage with a watching audience.
We headed back to the Westermann stand after seeing only a fraction of what the show has to offer (more days needed next time for certain) to join their 30 years celebration.
It was an honour to be invited, and we hope to join Westermann for the next 30 years.
What is most fascinating about this show is the people you meet; from the plane ride, to the café in the exhibition halls, to the restaurants in the evening, and on exhibitors stands - everybody is in good spirits and genuinely excited about where the industry is going next.
We are looking forwards to the 2021 Agritechnica already."
