What is a Westermann Weed Ripper?
If you’re not already acquainted with the Westermann Weed Ripper, let us tell you more! This weed removal machine is a great option when you want to avoid harmful chemical weed removal methods. The braided wire spinning brushes remove weeds and grass from hard surfaces without the need for chemicals or water, providing a reliable, eco-conscious alternative to herbicides and/or pressure washing without damaging surfaces.
How is the new Westermann WKB430 Weed Ripper model different?
The new Westermann WKB430 Weed Ripper model sits between the WKB330 and WKB660 in terms of size and power, bridging the gap between domestic users and commercial professionals.
- The WKB330 model is our more compact and most affordable offering, featuring one rotating brush head with four braided wire spinning brushes. Available in a petrol version or a battery version, it’s the little brother of the bunch. While they have many of the same features, the WKB330 is narrower with fewer spinning brushes and a smaller engine overall.
- The WKB660 is our heavy-duty model. Its twelve braided wire spinning brushes across three individually rotating brush heads allow for a more extensive clean that’s ideal for especially thick weed and moss removal. The option for when you want more durability and to cover larger surface areas, this model is particularly favoured by commercial contractors and professional landscapers.
- While the WKB430 model is still lightweight and highly manoeuvrable, it features a larger 430mm working width and six braided wire brushes on a single rotating head, compared to four brushes on the WKB330. This means faster coverage and more aggressive weed removal in a single pass.
All three models feature a unique guard with a side flap design that allows the brushes to get up close to wall bottoms and kerb edges on one side with high spinning revolutions. Although all the models have this design, only the WKB430 and WKB660 have the capacity to quickly redefine overgrown pathways and re-edge lawns.
Engine Options to Match Your Workload
The main factor that sets the WKB430 apart from its counterparts is its engine options, allowing you to choose the right level of power and durability:
- Honda GCVx170: Ideal for domestic and occasional professional use, this engine offers reliability and value for lighter tasks. This version costs £1,350 + VAT.
- Honda GXV160: A professional-grade engine (+£200.00 upgrade), recommended for frequent commercial use. Its benefits include a larger fuel tank and air filter, reduced vibration levels for operator comfort and 3-year commercial engine warranty. This version costs £1,550 + VAT.
Both options deliver trusted Honda performance, but if you're a contractor or landscaper working regularly across larger jobs, the GXV160 is the smart choice for longevity and resilience.
